Service Description

The Sierra Negra Volcano Tour is a hiking excursion that begins early in the morning after guests have had ample rest and are fully energized. Our team will pick you up from your hotel and we will proceed to our destination, Sierra Negra, which is located 800 meters away and entails a 45-minute drive. The hike up the Sierra Negra Volcano is not overly challenging, and previous hiking experience is not a prerequisite. As long as guests are in good physical condition and are motivated, they should be able to handle the trek with ease. The terrain is primarily flat, with few steep inclines, making it an accessible route for most individuals. Once we reach the summit, you will be treated to an awe-inspiring view of the 10-kilometer diameter crater, which is covered with solidified lava. The landscape's colors are otherworldly and have been likened to the planet Mars by many travelers. During the hike, our knowledgeable guide will share interesting insights about the Galapagos Islands' formation and volcanic history. After exploring the crater, we will continue towards the Chico Volcano. On a clear day, guests will be able to enjoy a panoramic view of the northern part of the island, including the Darwin Volcano, Santiago Island, Fernandina, and Pinzón. Upon reaching the Chico Volcano, guests will experience the volcano's warmth in certain spots, which serves as a reminder of its liveliness. Here, a delicious lunch will be served, and guests will have the opportunity to refresh themselves before descending and returning to their hotel. The Sierra Negra Volcano Tour is a unique and unforgettable experience that is not to be missed while in the Galapagos Islands.
